Children are the best teachers.

At the beginning of my freelancing journey, I tutored kids on their schoolwork, pretty much full time.
It was during that period that I really brushed up my communication skills -- children won't put up with BS nor platitudes. If you aren't interesting or making sense, they are gone.
I learnt that humor and play are almost always more important to start well if you want to get any work done, whether with kids or for my own passion projects.
