Capturing growth through photoshoots
I love photographing the same people from time to time because we can both see how much we’ve changed and grown since the last meeting through photography.
I first photographed Vivian, a yoga instructor at PURE yoga, in early February this year. It happened to be a rather windy morning — rather than capturing advance yoga poses which require more warm-up, we shifted the focus to tea and lifestyle shots which can depict Vivian’s personal interests. In November, Vivian booked me for an outdoor yoga photo shoot and I had the pleasure to create images with her again.
Prior to the portrait session, I went through her Instagram feed to give her outfit suggestions for the shoot and was amazed by all the educational videos she’s been creating. Such growth and dedication must have been propelled by Vivian’s passion towards yoga, which I could see even more of during our 2-hour shoot and our ride to the location.
On our ride back to the city, we were both talking about what aspects we’d like to work on next — such are the conversations I treasure when I get to work with the same people again.
